Hello! I’m Mallory.
I am a wife to my college sweetheart. Mother to three boys and a little girl. Artist for as long as I can remember.
BFA in Art/Art Education from The University of Georgia. Former Middle School Art Teacher. Presently, full-time homeschool parent and side-gig painter. My motivation to continue pursuing art - “little drops of water, little grains of sand” at a time - throughout a few military moves, a few babies, and these years of homeschooling full time, has been Romans 12:6 -
“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them…”
Whatever your circumstance, God is the master of doing much with a little (see Loaves + Fishes story in Matthew 14 / John 6). Our challenge and privilege is simply to put these gifts to use. It’s not about chasing numbers and fame but walking in who He’s created you to be.
Born and raised in Georgia and now planted in Tennessee. We left part of our hearts in Vicenza, Italy, where we got to live for three years.
My favorite European adventure was traveling to the Provence region of France - seeing the lavender fields, feeling the mistral winds that create the magical light found there, touring Cezanne’s studio in Aix-en-Provence, walking the mile loop around Arles holding a baguette and standing where Vincent and Cezanne’s yellow house once stood, then walking past the spots where he painted scenes such as “Night Cafe,” “Starry Night Over the Rhone,” and “Langlois Bridge,” Finally a car ride over to St. Remy-de-Provence to see Vincent’s olive groves, the original almond blossom tree painted symbolically for his new nephew, and the room where his tragic asylum days were spent. These artists, and others of a post-impressionist style, are my artistic heroes. You’ll notice their influence greatly in my work.
I love a good dance beat (former hip hop dancer here), birthday cake (extra buttercream, please), travel, biking with my family, friends, exercise, reading aloud with my kids, and being a wife.
I am pretty bad at taking care of house plants, looking at clocks, starting in the middle of books instead of the beginning, and emptying out the junk drawer.
I pray that these works invite you to study the beauty that lies beyond what we can visibly see and curiously study your surroundings in new light - invigorated by color and texture, movement and form in your own daily life.
It's my hope that these pictures point to a realm beyond our understanding, created by Jesus, who is the master painter. He gave us all these things in creation to behold and pass through our collective creative conscious, invoking in us a response that exceeds the limits of our language - an unspoken invigoration of the soul. Let’s respond. Let’s sing.. let’s dance… let’s paint.
